TACFIT FireFighter is proud to announce being published in Fire Engineering.

The TACFIT Fire Fighter project really began over seven years ago when Hall of Famer and Master of Sport, Coach Scott Sonnon challenged our local fire and police departments to a friendly competition.  After claiming victory over a very fit group of police officers we were invited to train with Coach Sonnon for the following year.  All of us who took advantage of the opportunity experienced tremendous improvements in health, fitness and body composition.

Ryan and I continued our relationship with Coach Sonnon after that initial year and  dedicated ourselves to studying and training under his mentorship.  After years of mastering the techniques and learning the principles of TACFIT and Circular Strength Training we  had the good fortune of joining Sonnon’s team to train agencies around the country.

On one such trip to the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), we recognized the current void and need for a comprehensive firefighter fitness program.  On our long flight back to the Northwest we laid the groundwork for what is today,  TACFIT Fire Fighter.  Our flagship program, TACFIT Fire Fighter First Alarm, will be available in early 2012.

The Fire Engineering article tells the story in more detail, reveals the results of a TACFIT study in our own department and provides a sample TACFIT workout.  Check it out and let us know what you think!
